“Functional pi-Conjugated Molecules”
My research is rooted in synthetic and physical organic chemistry with a focus on functional pi-conjugated molecules. I am at obtaining fundamental knowledge on pi-conjugation via linear or cross-conjugated pathways to use it for designing smart molecules with specific optical or multi-redox properties or that can behave as molecular switches that can be addressed by various stimuli. Specific focus areas are acetylenic scaffolding (construction of molecules by acetylenic coupling reactions), tetrathiafulvalene electron donors, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and dihydroazulene photoswitches.
